Time Magazine hasn’t chosen their Person of the Year just quite yet, but they are allowing their readers to interact during the pre-selection process. If you go on Time’s website, you can give your opinion on who you think should win the POY award.
And who tops that poll so far?? Of course, it’s none other than the twerk’n, tongue out, bleached brows Miley Cyrus! ..Howevever, some are accusing the polls of being rigged! In the poll, Miley’s up against leader, Narenda Modi, from India and Edward Snowden, who leaked NSA information- they are in 2nd and 3rd place at only 13% and 12%. Angelina Jolie and Jimmy Fallon?? Well they only fall on the poll at 1%!
Those who are accusing the poll of being inaccurate say that there are two computer programmers that have learned how to hack to poll, but Time insists that they have measures in place to keep the poll results legit.
In the end, it’s up to Time who wins POY (whether they’ve influenced the news this year for better or worse), but having the honor of winning the reader poll is still a big deal! Voting for the poll ends December 4th, and the results will be announced on December 6th. Time will announce the official Person of the Year award on December 11th.
